Spotlight on Sonya Barlow

Welcome to the Spotlight Series. Every fortnight, we’re going to be shining a light on people that are driving change for gender equality. To raise awareness of their brilliant work, share some useful resources and inspire with more ways to take action towards gender equality. We’re delighted to kick the series off by introducing you to Sonya Barlow.

Sonya is driving change for women in so many ways. Firstly, she is the founder of Likeminded Females Network, a global community and educational technology company of over 50,000 people. Dedicated to reducing inequalities and providing a foundation to succeed as women and underrepresented minorities through life skills workshops, mentoring and sponsorship. She is best-selling author of Unprepared to Entrepreneur - a must-read for anyone setting up their own business. She is a TEDx Speaker, hosts The Everyday Hustle on BBC and is a Linkedin Changemaker.

We asked Sonya what motivates her to fight for gender equality:

I want everyone to know that they have the confidence and capabilities within them to build and live the career of their dreams. Therefore, I am motivated by building a community that encourages curiosity, communications and connectivity so we can listen, learn and grow together.”

The Likeminded Females Network are giving away a free #BreakTheBias Masterclass,  a 30-minute online course and workbook that’s packed with some really great advice and tips to help you to examine your own unconscious biases. You can find out more and sign up here.

Squash use drama to challenge gender bias in the workplace. We are not about cancel culture. Pointing fingers get nothing done. We all have biases - rather than  dwelling on the problem, lets keep the conversation focused on positive action. Drama engages hearts and minds, acting as a catalyst for behaviour change and inspiring people to make a difference. If you’re looking for a refreshing approach to gender bias, get in touch. It’s time to Squash.
