Our Approach
Squash use drama and storytelling to change the way people think about DEI. We bring to life, real workplace experiences in order to facilitate the honest, meaningful conversations that need to be had.
Drama acts the catalyst for change in our approach - by evoking emotion and motivating people to take action towards creating more inclusive, equitable cultures.
We create tailored case-studies, that hold up a mirror to company culture and are performed by professional actors with lived experience. These scenarios form the basis of our workshops. Participants can also interact with the characters, to challenge their thinking and increase understanding of their experience.
We're not just talking about change;
we're actively performing it.
Using storytelling, drama and dialogue-based training is proven to be more effective than traditional lecture-based training.
Here are some of the benefits of our approach to learning:
Empathy through perspective taking
Participants develop empathy by allowing them to see the world through the eyes of others. This perspective-taking can lead to a better understanding of the experiences and challenges faced by individuals from diverse backgrounds, fostering a more inclusive environment and enhancing cultural competence.
Interactive and engaging
Drama and storytelling is more engaging and immersive than traditional lecture-based training. It draws participants into the learning process, making it more likely that they will retain and apply the information they learn.
Facilitates behaviour change
The use of drama can facilitate behaviour change by providing participants with the opportunity to practise new skills and behaviours in a safe and supportive environment. This can lead to lasting changes in attitudes and behaviours that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Drives awareness of unconscious bias
Drama and storytelling can help participants recognise and address their unconscious biases. By exploring different perspectives and experiences through drama, participants can become more aware of their own biases and work to overcome them.
